The Music Laboratory was established on 16 October, 2014, in Sofia, by Yordan Kamdzhalov as artistic director and Maya Vasileva as a conductor.

This conceptual vocal formation was born in the cradle of the internationally recognized Bulgarian choir tradition. The key objective of the Music Laboratory for the Human Self is the quest and the craving for the infinite and unforeseeable capabilities and perspectives of the creative potential of the human being as such.

​In 2015, Yordan Kamdzhalov assumed charge as artistic director and chief conductor of the internationally convened Bulgarian GENESIS ORCHESTRA. Being pivotal for the Conceptual Cultural Platform of the Yordan Kamdzhalov Foundation, this format brings together established Bulgarian musicians from Bulgaria, Europe and the world. Lead by their professionalism, experience and passion for art, they join forces to open new dimensions and feed in fresh impulses to develop the cultural domain.

It is a space with no boundaries between stage performers and audience, where all participants become part of the creative process. This allows a special connection with the other, no matter the differences in background, profession, social status or age, through the universal language of music. It is about freedom and reconnection through singing. At the core of this idea lays the intention to work for the awakening of one of the most powerful archetypes of Bulgarians – the power of the spirit, which has crystallized in art and song, and thanks to which we have survived through the centuries. 

In November 2018, the Music Academy opened its doors – a project of the “Yordan Kamdjalov” Foundation. The educational sessions, which will have a pronounced practical orientation, will be held one Saturday and Sunday of the month from November 2018 to July 2019 at the City Mark Art Center.
Music Academy is an organic next step of Maestro Kamdjalov’s Conceptual Cultural Platform and represents a qualitatively new educational format for people over 16 years of age, without an upper age limit, with interests in the field of arts. It consists of nine open educational sessions, during which conductor Yordan Kamdjalov and leading Bulgarian interpreters, music theorists and educators will present music as part of all knowledge. The topics will be taught at an academic level, but in a way that is suitable for people with diverse interests, of different ages and not necessarily with a musical background.
Participants will be given the unique opportunity to attend the rehearsals of the Genesis Orchestra and the Human Music Lab.

Getting familiar with our history, we see that interdisciplinarity is something very natural. The majority of the significant artists, scientists and overall history makers are exactly this type of symmetrical developed personalities. With “Interdisciplinary artists” we strive to present people that remind us of our own potential and expand our perspective on life. A cycle of concerts that aims to our creativity, power and human abilities as a whole.

Conductor Yordan Kamdzhalov is one of the believers in the school of thought that math is a deeply connected to music and the surrounding world. With that in mind Yordan dedicates energy and resources to foster and educate the minds of people towards the greater understading of math, communication and the world.
