Lora Markova

was born in 2003 in Sofia. She started playing the violin when she was 5 years old, in the class of professor Blagorodna Taneva in National Music School “Lyubomir Pipkov”, where she is currently studying. She is a laureat of various international competitions, some of which are:
First Prize from “Young Virtuosos” – Sofia, 2013; “Dobrin Petkov” – Plovdiv, 2013; “Nedyalka Simeonova” – Haskovo 2014 and 2018; GRAND PRIX from the competitions “Music and the Earth” – Sofia, 2018; “Hopes, Masters, Talents” – Dobrich, 2019; “Asen Diamandiev” – Borovec, 2021.
Lora’s international accomplishments and prizes are from the competitions: “Andrea Postacchini” and “Piccolo Violino” in Italy, “Anton Rubinstein” in Germany, “Odessa” in Ukraine, “Concertino Praha” in Chech Republic. In 2020 Lora Markova receives the first prize from the international competition “Leonid Kogan” in Brussels, and in 2021 she becomes first prize laureat of the prestigious competition for violinists under 18 years “Tibor Varga Junior” in Switzerland, which presents her the opportunity for various international concerts in the upcoming 2 years.
In 2020, the Bulgarian National Radio show “Allegro Vivace” awards Lora with the Bulgarian talent prize after the name of “Olga Kamburova”, and in 2021 she is nominated for “Young musician of 2020”.
Lora is also the laureat of the biz prize “Flight in the art” by “Stoyan Kambarev” Foundation in 2020.
Lora Markova’s soloist participations in festivals and concerts include “Days of Bulgaria” – Frankfurt; “Musica Mundi” – Brussels; “Treasures from Bulgaria” – Carnegie Hall, New York, USA; and others in France, Italy, Greece, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal.
In Bulgaria Lora Markova has been the soloist of the Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra, Festival Orchestra of Bulgarian National Radio, Youngsters Philharmonic Orchestra “Sofia”, “Symphonieta Sofia”, Vidin Philharmonic Orchestra, Sofia Soloists and more.
Lora is also actively playing as a chamber musical. In duo with Syon Najman (cello) they are the winners of the special prize “Bohuslav Martinu” from the international competition “Concertino Praha”, Chech Republic 2021; first prize from the international competition “Music and the Earth”, Sofia 2021; and first prize from the national radio competition “Cantus Firmus” 2021.
She has been a part of the masterclasses and academias of professor Michael Frischenschlager, professor Dora Schwarzberg, professor Leonid Kerbel, professor Zahar Bron, professor Ivri Gitlis, professor Pavel Vernikov, professor Svetlana Makarova, Vesko Eshkenazy, Svetlin Rusev, Mila Georgieva and others.
Lora Markova is scholar of “Yordan Kamdzhalov” Foundation, Bulgarian Ministry of Culture, “Young Virtuosos” Foundation.
She is a scholar of Leonidas Kavakos and Dakk App for 2021.
Lora is playing with a 1908 “Charles Brugere” violin, restored by the luthier Vlado Tilev.
